The Science of the Starsong Chronicles

One question that comes up a lot, is how much of the Starsong Chronicles is based on real science and how much of it is just made up in my imagination? There's a scale for measuring Science Fiction in terms of realism, it's called the Mohs Scale.

The scale works on a rating system from 1-6 with 1 being completely made up science fantasy (I'm looking at you Star Wars) where no explanation is given for how anything works, it just does. A 6 on this scale represents real-life with no givings for false information.

As much as possible I tried to keep the science involved somewhere between a 4 and a 5. A 4 on this scale is that there's one big element of "handwavium" that's required to make the story work, but the rest of it is based on things that are real or plausible. A 5 on this scale is limited to things that hypotehtically possible. I wanted to make the stories as real as possible, so I spent a lot of time doing research.

In a series of blog posts, I'll talk about the science of different parts of the book and break down what's really real, what's hypothetically real, and what's entirely made up. If you think of anything that I've missed that you're dying to know about, feel free to send me a message and I'll include it!
